Laura is currently on a secondment in the Healthcare Advisory Team at Grant Thornton, where she advises both the NHS and private healthcare bodies to ensure they can achieve their maximum potential.
"On a day to day basis I spend a lot of time having face to face meetings with senior directors within NHS Trusts and observe the way the entity works on a day to day basis (such as board meetings) to provide insightful recommendations."
Becoming an accountant was not initially appealing for Laura “When I first thought about becoming an accountant, there were a number of stereotypes that came into my head, such as, sitting at a desk all day and using Excel. However, this is not the case at all.”
Laura became a member after just two years of study and work in 2014, and she received an immediate promotion: “The ACCA qualification has benefitted my career hugely. It has enabled me to be recognised as achieving a professional, highly regarded qualification, not only by my firm but also by the clients I act for.”
Outside of work, Laura enjoys travelling and seeing new places (as many holidays that can feasibly fit into a working year) and cooking.
